Dinosaur Party
Earlier this year I published my book The Octopieuvre Family Learns at the Geology Museum. So when it came time to plan a party for my 3 year old, it was easy to pick what theme we would do. DINOSAURS! 
Party Preparations
Since I had most of the graphics already created, putting together invitations and name tags was easy. The Dinosaur Party Stationery is available to download and can easily have text added to the invites through the help of Canva, Adobe, and even Google Drawings. The party stationery bundle includes a name tag sheet that can be printed on sticker paper, then cut, to use as name tags or party goody bag tags.
Party Decor
We held the party outside, so not much was needed for the decor. We did hang some dinosaur pictures from tree branches and by the playground, and it could have been taken a step further and been used as a dinosaur hunt, but that wasn't necessary for our party. We did scatter a couple of balloons, on the grass but most of them popped early on.
Party Activities
For this age group, 2-5, I knew doing sensory bins again would be fun. I got some sand, kid beach shovel sets, and some dinosaurs so that they could excavate for dinosaurs. And of course, it was a huge hit!
I wanted to do more activities, that the parents could also enjoy so after doing some reasearch online, I decied we would have a triceratops ring toss and a tiranosaurusrex bean bag toss. I got some foam boards, poster paper, and party hats and spent two days making these activities. I was thrilled with how they turned out, and the kids did enjoy the challenge.

Party Food
Since we scheduled the party from 10 to 12, I knew kids and parents would be hungry. Of course we had to have dinosaur-themed food!

- sliced watermelon (stegosaurus scales)
- green grapes (pterodactyl eggs)

- popcorn chichen with honey mustard, ketchup, and BBQ sauces (volcano and lava)

Party Overview
With this age group and since we were outside, we didn't need to structure times for each activity. Parents were able to visit while watching their kids if necessary, but for the most part, the kids were independent and played with one another and the activities on their own. I had the food as an open buffet, so everyone grabbed what they wanted when they wanted. We set up chairs and picnic blankets to have variety in seating for all ages. As party favours, you could wrap up a dinosaur book, stickers, or print out the dinosaur matching game. These make quick and easy favours.
